600 Gilmerton Road, Edinburgh
- Project: 600 Gilmerton Road
- Year of completion: 2009
- Client: Bernard Hunter Limited
- Project Value: circa £750,000.00
- Architect: James Clydesdale and Associates
The 2½ - storey office building provides bright spacious office space for the Client and also has flexibility to allow for leasing out unused space on a temporary basis.
The building is of steel frame construction with insitu concrete floors on metal decking. The columns sit onto large pad foundations 1.2m below ground level, to ensure they bear on natural material, below the made ground on site. The lateral stability of the building is provided by moment connections between the steel beams and columns, to avoid the need for cross bracing in the walls, which would impede the extensively glazed elevations.
A second building is currently in design development.
