Projects involving the conservation, alteration or strengthening of older buildings require a unique engineering approach. Where possible, structural interventions must be non-invasive and sensitive to the history of the building and the original materials used. Considerable knowledge and experience is required together with a pragmatic approach to develop an appropriate engineering solution for each project. Experience in this field has led to numerous commissions including work with Historic Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage and many recognised conservation Architects and other conservation bodies.
We have amassed a great deal of experience in historic buildings of every sort from humble farm buildings to Scheduled Ancient Monuments. We are considered the Structural Engineers of choice by many in the field of conservation and repair of historic buildings, including Conservation Architects and Clients such as Historic Scotland and The National Trust for Scotland.
