Gilmerton Road, Edinburgh

This two-and-a-half-storey office building provides bright, spacious office space for the Client and also has flexibility to allow for leasing out unused space on a temporary basis.

The building is of steel frame construction with in situ concrete floors on metal decking. The columns sit onto large pad foundations 1.2 metres below ground level to ensure they bear on natural material below the made ground on site. The lateral stability of the building is provided by moment connections between the steel beams and columns to avoid the need for cross bracing in the walls, which would impede the extensively glazed elevations.
