Carnegie Links lies on the shores of Dornoch Firth at the heart of the prestigious Skibo Castle estate. We worked with Colin Armstrong Architects on a large extension to the Carnegie Links Golf House. The 350m² extension houses a new entrance area, new golf and luxury goods shop and additional dining space. The extension is adjoined to the existing natural stone masonry building and enhances the overall experience for guests.
The new structure largely comprises of a steel frame for the retail area with large glazed gable feature windows to the front elevation. There is an atrium rooflight centred above the main retail space with a feature ceiling below. The retail space has a first-floor storage area suspended from the roof structure above. Traditional masonry construction with feature timber trusses to the roof was used for the dining space extension to continue the country feel of the existing Golf House. Associated infrastructure works around the front of the Golf House included drainage and resurfacing.
