The historic Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow is home to Scotland's beloved Tennent's. The existing brewery tour at Wellpark mixed back of house areas with the tour, exhibition and tasting all in one main room. The goal for this project was to transform the brewery tour, create opportunities for larger and more frequent group visits and provide an expanded exhibition/museum space.
The new experience traces the history of Scotland’s oldest brewery, from the 1500s to the present day. The experience includes an immersive tour which ends with a revamped tasting experience. The visitor centre is home to artefacts gathered from the first days of brewing at Wellpark in 1556 to today.
The project involved major alterations to the structure of a 1960s office block and an extension to the west gable to create a separate and more welcoming entry point for visitors. Corten steel panels were used to create the level access to the new entrance and piled foundations were installed for all new elements.
Since opening in November of 2018, The Tennent’s Story has shown great success with a record-breaking rise in footfall and it's busiest month ever in December.
