Like many large, detached, Victorian houses, this property had extensive and attractive gardens but poor access to the garden from the house. This beautifully crafted, single-storey garden room resolves this issue by providing an extended family space, dining area, generous kitchen and improved access to the garden.
The extension is a combination of timber and steel framed construction, with high level clerestory glazing, bi-fold glazed doors and a feature cantilever roof. New door openings were formed through the rear elevation and internal walls by installing new lintels and strengthening the existing masonry where required.
In addition to the extension, the project included refurbishment of the existing property. This involved conversion of the existing garage to form a home gym and study and general upgrading throughout to provide a bespoke, modern family home. Natural stone was used on the main façade of the extension to compliment the traditional high quality materials of the original property.
